- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU); step-down/intermediate care
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Schedule: 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.; varying schedule
- Shifts per Week: 3
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,500–$1,580
- Holiday Requirement: Work two of the following three major holidays—Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day—and one minor holiday.
PCU RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Georgia
- At least 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit, step-down, or intermediate-care nursing experience
- Strong patient assessment and clinical prioritization skills for acutely ill patients requiring intermediate-level care
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Current NIH Stroke Scale certification
- Ability to work a 12-hour night schedule and meet holiday coverage requirements
Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Progressive Care Unit setting.
- Monitor patients requiring frequent assessments, cardiac monitoring, and timely clinical intervention.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to the interdisciplinary care team.
- Administer medications and treatments safely while following established clinical standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, nursing colleagues, patients, and families to support individualized care plans.
- Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care-plan updates accurately.
- Promote patient safety, education, comfort, and continuity of care throughout the assignment.
