• Floating: PCU and overflow areas, including emergency department holds and medical-surgical units
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
• Electronic Medical Record: EPIC experience preferred

PCU Travel Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing; license must be in hand before the start date
• At least 2 years of recent PCU, progressive care, stepdown, intermediate care, or telemetry nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification and Nursys verification required for submission
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients in PCU, telemetry, medical-surgical, or emergency department holding environments
• Comfort working night shifts and accepting an alternating 36/48-hour schedule
• Ability to float to designated overflow, emergency department holding, and medical-surgical areas
• Availability to complete required laboratory items within 72 hours of accepting the assignment, or an established completion plan

PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in the Progressive Care Unit
• Monitor patients requiring progressive care, telemetry, and close clinical observation
• Support PCU overflow and care for appropriate patients in emergency department holding areas and medical-surgical units
• Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to the interdisciplinary care team
• Administer medications, perform assessments, coordinate interventions, and document care accurately in the electronic medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and other clinical team members to promote positive patient outcomes
• Adapt efficiently to varying patient acuity, unit workflows, and floating assignments
• Provide patient and family education while maintaining a professional, compassionate approach
