PCU Registered Nurse Travel Job in Hilo, Hawaii

- Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 36 hours per week after the first week of orientation; no guarantee of hours
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 - $2,010
- Unit: Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (CPCU)
- Setting: 15-bed progressive care unit with telemetry and step-down ICU patients
- On-Call: No call required
- Floating: May float to other acute care units, including Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER
Job Requirements
- Active Hawaii RN license required by the start of the assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent hospital acute care experience required
- Progressive care RN and telemetry nursing experience preferred
- ACLS preferred
- PALS preferred
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care and cardiac step-down environment
- Experience with Meditech charting and Pyxis medication systems preferred
- Must be able to arrive the Thursday before the start date for an employee health appointment on Friday
Responsibilities
- Provide primary nursing care to progressive care, telemetry, and step-down ICU patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret telemetry strips
- Perform fingerstick blood sugar checks and other routine bedside nursing care
- Support patients requiring BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitoring
- Document accurately in Meditech and manage medications using Pyxis
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe, high-quality patient outcomes
- Adapt to floating assignments within the acute care setting as needed
- Maintain a professional, team-oriented approach in a busy hospital environment
