- Location: Inpatient Newborn Unit, Asheville, NC (zip 28801) — Western North Carolina
- Employment Type: Locum tenens / travel physician (temporary assignment)
- Duration: 24 weeks (April 1, 2026 – September 16, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p)
- Patients per Shift (Census): 10–18
- Number of Positions: 3 locum tenens pediatric hospitalist openings
- Practice EMR: Cerner (experience with Cerner preferred)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Board Certified Physician in Pediatrics (Pediatrics board certification required)
- At least 1 year of experience as a pediatric hospitalist or similar inpatient pediatric role
- Active North Carolina medical license (NC license required prior to start)
- Active North Carolina DEA registration (proof required upon presentation)
- Comfortable with inpatient newborn care and hospitalist workflows; Cerner EMR experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality inpatient care for newborns in the hospital newborn unit
- Conduct daily rounds, manage admissions and discharges, and complete consults
- Respond to phone calls and collaborate closely with RN staff and in-house neonatologists
- Work within a system supported by a Level 3 NICU; coordinate care with neonatology as needed
- No requirement to attend deliveries or perform circumcisions
- Newborn resuscitation not required; PALS/NRP certification not needed for this assignment
- Document clinical care accurately in Cerner and maintain timely charting for continuity of care
