Job Requirements / Qualifications
- At least 1 year of consecutive phlebotomy experience; experience may be considered in lieu of certification
- Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques for patients of all ages (newborn to older adults)
- Phlebotomy certification (CPT or state equivalent) preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and clinical staff
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Commitment to infection control, patient safety, and proper specimen handling
Primary Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens using venipuncture and capillary methods across inpatient units
- Provide timely, accurate specimen collection and label specimens correctly for the clinical laboratory
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transport of specimens to the lab following hospital policies
- Communicate professionally with patients and healthcare team members to ensure a positive patient experience
- Maintain strict infection control practices and adhere to patient safety protocols
