Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-week travel contract in Holyoke, MA. Night-shift inpatient psychiatric nursing job at Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital, caring for adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients.

- Position: Psychiatric Registered Nurse / Travel RN – Inpatient Behavioral Health
- Setting: Behavioral Health Division (104 beds across five units)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM); Travel nurse night shift
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Float Requirement: Yes – float across adult, geriatric, and pediatric units
- Electronic Health Record: Cerner (EHR experience preferred)
- Dress Code: Blue scrubs
Minimum Qualifications
- Current RN license in Massachusetts (RN, MA)
- BLS certification required
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher from an accredited program
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health setting
- ACLS certification preferred
- Comfortable working with adult, geriatric, and pediatric psychiatric populations
- Ability to float between units as needed; strong teamwork and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect psychiatric nursing care using the nursing process: Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans in coordination with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff
- Monitor and communicate changes in patient clinical condition to physicians, supervisors, and co-workers
- Participate in discharge planning and transitions of care for behavioral health patients
- Care for patients with common psychiatric diagnoses including schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, substance use disorder, and anxiety
- Maintain appropriate patient ratios (typical 1:8 variable; lower ratios on geriatric and pediatric units)
