Job Details
- Location: Holyoke, MA 01040 (Western Massachusetts / Pioneer Valley)
- Setting: Inpatient Behavioral Health Division (104 beds across five units)
- Assignment Type: Travel Contract – Travel Nurse / Psychiatric RN
- Start Date: May 4, 2026
- End Date: August 3, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Hours per Week: 36 (weekly guarantee)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Float Requirement: Yes – float across adult, geriatric, and pediatric behavioral health units
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890
Qualifications (Job Requirements)
- Active RN license in the state of Massachusetts (required)
- Minimum 1 year experience in an inpatient psychiatric, behavioral health, or mental health nursing setting
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Experience working with adult, geriatric, and pediatric behavioral health populations (ages 5–17)
- Ability and willingness to float between units as needed
- Experience with Cerner EHR preferred (behavioral health documentation and medication administration)
- Strong skills in crisis intervention, de-escalation, therapeutic interventions, and patient safety
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect psychiatric nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Develop individualized nursing and safety plans in coordination with patients, families, and interdisciplinary behavioral health teams
- Perform mental health assessments, medication administration, and monitoring of psychiatric symptoms
- Implement crisis de-escalation and therapeutic milieu strategies to promote safety and recovery
- Communicate changes in patient condition to physicians, supervisors, and care team members in a timely manner
- Participate in discharge planning and transitions of care for psychiatric and behavioral health patients
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Cerner EHR and adhere to facility policies and procedures (dress code: blue scrubs)
