- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 5/18/2026 – End: 8/17/2026)
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 – $2,130 (competitive travel nurse pay for Psychiatric RN positions)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in mental health nursing, behavioral health, or psychiatric RN roles
- Valid State of Maine RN license
- Associate's degree in Nursing (minimum); BSN preferred
- Current BLS certification (AHA)
- Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required prior to start
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage stress, prioritize care, and make decisions under pressure in emergency psychiatry settings
- Flexible to provide coverage as needed (24/7 coverage requirements)
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (travel nurse requirement)
- Applicants with active licensure sanctions or unresolved licensure issues will not be considered
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process across assigned emergency psych areas
- Develop, implement, and periodically update individualized, interdisciplinary plans of care for behavioral health patients
- Assess and evaluate patient outcomes; identify and coordinate available community and clinical resources
- Care for patients with psychiatric diagnoses including major depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders, psychotic disorders, and substance detoxification needs
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality patient care
- Maintain thorough, timely documentation and uphold patient safety, de-escalation, and risk assessment standards
