Travel Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift | 13-Week Contract in Lima, Ohio
Join a progressive care and medical-surgical telemetry team as a Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) on a 13-week night-shift travel nursing contract in Lima, Ohio. You will care for adult and geriatric patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, complex medication management, and responsive bedside nursing care. - Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift
- Shift: Night shift
- Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Unit: 28-bed telemetry and stepdown unit
- Interview: Not required prior to offer
Telemetry Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid compact-state license
- At least 2 years of professional RN experience, including acute-care telemetry, progressive care, stepdown, or medical-surgical nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Successful completion of a dysrhythmia examination
- Ability to interpret telemetry rhythms at regular intervals and document findings in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Experience caring for patients requiring cardiac monitoring, complex medication infusions, and advanced respiratory support
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills
- Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN), Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification are preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), electronic health record experience, and critical care coursework are preferred
Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments of telemetry and stepdown patients.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care using the nursing process.
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications and titratable therapies safely, including Cardizem, nitroglycerin, and heparin infusions, according to applicable policies and standards of practice.
- Care for patients with complex conditions, including multisystem illness, chest tubes, and hemodynamic monitoring needs.
- Support patients requiring tracheostomy care, BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and other oxygen therapies.
- Provide care for adults and older adults while incorporating age-specific, culturally responsive, and relationship-based nursing practices.
- Coordinate care with providers, ancillary departments, patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
- Educate patients and caregivers about treatment plans, medications, recovery, safety, and ongoing care needs.
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention, privacy, quality improvement, and effective use of clinical resources.
- Remain calm and adaptable during emergencies, changing workloads, and rapidly evolving patient conditions.
