Locum Tenens Physician Assistant (PA) – Trauma Surgery in Columbia, SC (29203). 13-week day-shift locum caring for adult trauma patients; Epic EMR preferred. Join a dynamic trauma surgery team in Columbia, South Carolina and provide high-acuity, hands-on trauma care for adults with occasional pediatric cases.
Job Details – Trauma Surgery PA (Columbia, South Carolina)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (July 20, 2026 – October 19, 2026)
- Location: Columbia, South Carolina (zip code 29203)
- Shifts: 5x11-hour day shifts per week (7:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $4,490 – $4,810 (locum tenens pay)
- Setting: Trauma Surgery Department – high-acuity adult trauma, occasional pediatrics
- Patient Volume: 10–12 patients per day (primarily adults)
- EMR: Epic (Epic EMR experience preferred)
Required Qualifications – Physician Assistant (PA) for Trauma
- Active Physician Assistant license (PA license). South Carolina license preferred
- Board Certification in Trauma Surgery (or relevant trauma/surgical advanced practice credentials)
- Minimum 2 years of post-training experience as a Physician Assistant in trauma, surgical, or critical care settings
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, ATLS, PALS
- Clean background check and malpractice history
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Must provide name and NPI for credentialing
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
Trauma PA Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to trauma surgery patients (primary adult focus, occasional pediatric cases)
- Receive and manage trauma transfers from outside facilities, coordinating handoffs and disposition
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, trauma surgeons, nurses, and the interdisciplinary trauma team to deliver high-quality patient care
- Perform trauma-related clinical duties including resuscitation, bedside procedures as appropriate, and post-op care
- Document all patient encounters, procedures, and care plans accurately in Epic EMR
- Follow hospital protocols, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, and participate in quality improvement activities
